How do I get trivia in my favorite bar/restaurant?

Does it cost anything to play? 

Trivia is free, but please support the location by enjoying items from their food & drink menu!

How many people can play on a team? 

Team size is limited to eight players.

Can more than eight play throughout the season? 

More than eight can play throughout the season, but not on your team at any given time.

How do I create a team? 

To create a team, just show up at your local trivia night! Your host will automatically register you on our website. *Please note: to accumulate points in our tournament, you must play at the same location under the same team name each week or ensure that your host knows you are the same team when you change your name.

What is the hint of the week? 

It’s a little content sneak peek for our players! Each week is a different hint to a specific question topic - follow our Facebook or Instagram for the hint.

What kind of weekly prizes can you expect? 

It’s the location’s choice: it’s often gift cards, but can also be shots, food, swag, etc. Check the Locations page or ask your location directly.

What are house champions? 

House champions are the winning team of the previous season at each location. They get a shout-out on our Locations page until the end of the next season!

What's the deal with the tournament? 

Each season runs 10-12 weeks, on a quarterly basis. Play each week at the same venue to earn points, teams with the most points at each location will qualify for an invitation to the tournament at the end of that season.

How do points work? 

Points are accrued through a points system algorithm, based on where you place that evening and among how many teams. Each night you play adds points to your season score (with extra points during the last two weeks of the season).

When are the playoffs? 

The schedule varies by season. You can find the season & playoff schedule on our Facebook and Charm City Trivia page.

What kind of prizes can you expect at the finals? 

Prizes at finals include cash and prizes for the top three teams! First place also gets their team name added to the Grand Champion’s Cup!

How do you get invited to the playoffs? 

If you’ve qualified for the playoffs, you’ll receive an email within a week of the season ending. Your host will collect your contact info - no info, no invite! So, make sure you give your host your team’s contact information. Contact Playoffs@CharmCityEntertainment.com with any questions or issues.

Our team qualified for playoffs but hasn’t seen an invitation, what do we do? 

Send a message to Playoffs@CharmCityEntertainment.com. Invites are sent a week after the last game of the season.

Can I play on multiple teams? 

Yes, you can play on multiple teams at separate locations, but if both teams qualify for the tournament, you can only participate with one of them.

Can points be combined from different locations? 

No, your season score is location specific. Because scores are dependent on the number of teams, it is not fair for different locations.

I've played under multiple team names at the same location, is it possible to merge the points? 

If your team plays under different names during the season, we can merge your accrued points for playoff consideration. Message us at Info@CharmCityEntertainment.com for standings help. *Always tell your host if your team changes names!

There’s an issue with my score from a previous game, can this be fixed? 

Scoring issues must be addressed during the game with your host. Scoring discrepancies will not be considered after the game has ended. However, if your placement was inaccurately recorded on our website, we are happy to audit. Please message Info@CharmCityEntertainment.com

How is cheating handled? 

If you suspect cheating during your game, inform your host. We issue warnings and disqualify teams as needed.

What if I have issues with our host? 

Feel free to bring your concern straight to the host or email Info@CharmCityEntertainment.com if you don’t feel comfortable addressing the host directly.

What if there is a problem with the location? 

Charm City Trivia is the hired entertainment for the location. If you are having an issue with the location, the staff, wait times, food, servers, prizes, or anything other than our host or our game, address your concerns directly to the location.

How do I know if my game is running? 

Games run weekly, year-round, unless noted on our News page and social media. If you are concerned about a specific date, contact the location. We do not cancel games. The Locations page on our website contains the most up-to-date list of active locations and start times.

Do games still run during the off-season? 

Yes! Games run all year round, including the off-season; the only difference is you don’t accrue points for the playoffs.

What are the Sunday Funday & Fall Charity Series? 

We have fundraising trivia games for charity two seasons per year. Our Sunday Funday Charity Series runs through the Spring, with themed games at select locations weekly on Sundays. Our Fall Charity Series has a themed game once a month at select locations. The charity and theme change every game!

Where can I play one of your charity games? 

The list of locations varies; during our fundraising seasons, you can find the locations on our News page and social media.

I’d like to reserve a table for one of your charity games, who do I contact? 

We do not offer pre-registration for our charity events, though the location may do so. If you think you may need/want to make a reservation for a fundraising game, please contact the location directly.

I work for an organization that would benefit from participation in the charity series, who do I contact? 

We focus on featuring local non-profits and charities that directly benefit Maryland communities. If this applies to you and you are interested in being featured in one of our games, please contact Charities@CharmCityEntertainment.com

Charm City Karaoke FAQs

How do I get karaoke in my favorite bar/restaurant?

Does it cost anything to participate? 

Karaoke is free, but please support the location by enjoying items from their food & drink menu!

How does karaoke work? 

This isn’t your grandpa’s karaoke – no grimy binders with outdated songs from before 1992! Jump in the queue by using our QR code to access the latest tunes. Get ideas from curated playlists, use the vocal match feature on our website, and choose from our selection of 60,000+ songs. Click “add to queue” with your name – your host will receive your song digitally and add you to the rotation. Chat with the host if you’d like to change the tempo or pitch of your song prior to singing.

What if my phone is dead? 

We also accept requests for songs the old-fashioned way – go ask your host to join the queue!

My favorite song is new or kind of obscure, do you have it? 

With 400+ new songs being added monthly, there is a strong possibility that we have your favorite tune. If you don’t see it on our website, please chat with the host before ruling it out.

I want to sing a song, but it’s explicit. Am I allowed? 

While there are explicit songs available, this is a location-by-location decision. Generally, we try to be respectful if there are children in the audience or if the location asks us to keep it clean, but most of our venues cater to adults in the late evening.

What if I want to sing with my friend(s)? 

We have two wireless microphones to share – the more the merrier!

Is there a song limit? 

We keep a rotation of singers to make sure everyone gets to sing, so be sure to put your favorite song in each round and we’ll save your spot!

I chose a song, why haven’t I been called up yet? 

Chances are you are coming up in the rotation, but if you’re concerned that your song didn’t go through, ask your host!

I’m considering going to karaoke night, but I’m not a great singer. Can I still participate? 

Yes! Everyone is welcome, no matter their experience level! This isn’t Star Search; we’re just here to have fun!

This is my first time at karaoke, what are the dos & don’ts? 

Be supportive – it takes a brave individual to stand up and sing in front of people. No heckling – don’t be rude. Applause and singing along are encouraged! Unless you get permission from the singer, do not steal the spotlight by taking their microphone or picking up the other mic. Go outside of your comfort zone – sing a new song! Above all, DO NOT DROP THE MIC – it’s not ‘cool,’ it’s grounds for exile. Lastly, YOLO – bring your friends and have an epic time!

Charm City Music Bingo FAQs

How do I get music bingo in my favorite bar/restaurant?

Does it cost anything to play? 

Music Bingo is free, but please support the location by enjoying items from their food & drink menu!

How do I register to play? 

 Just show up at your favorite local bar or restaurant on music bingo night! Your host will provide everything you need.

Are there prizes? 

Yes! Prizes are different at every location, including (but not limited to) gift cards, swag, food, discounts, etc. Check the Locations page or ask your location directly.

How does it work? 

You’ll be provided bingo cards by your host that are filled in with various song titles. You then listen to each song as they play, try to find them on your card, cross them off when you find them, and call bingo if you get it.

How many bingo games are there? 

There are five rounds of varying difficulty played over our two-hour game show.

I’ve never heard this song before; how will I know if it’s on my card? 

Since music bingo is randomized and there’s no way to cheat, players are encouraged to use song-identifying apps (like Shazam) to name the song. If you don’t have an app like that, you are also welcome to ask your host what the name of the song is.

What is this I hear about a “jackpot?” 

The final bingo game is the “blackout” round where you must mark off all the songs on one of the two cards on your sheet to win. A win can garner you a prize from the location, but if you achieve a blackout within the current week’s song limit, you could win the progressive jackpot! Each session begins at $150 for winning bingo in 50 songs or less. For each week with no winner, we increase the jackpot by at least $50 and the song limit by one. The maximum jackpot amount that can be won is $1,000. Our largest jackpot won was $800! Check out our current jackpot on our Charm City Music Bingo page.

What if there are two jackpot winners in a week? 

Winners are determined over the entire week, so multiple winners would split the jackpot. Winners will be notified of the final amount and receive a payout the following week.

Play Virtual Trivia FAQs

How much does it cost? 

Only $5 per player!

How do I register to play? 

Visit our Play Virtual Trivia page, click "Learn More," select the game you wish to play from our calendar, and follow the instructions. Please provide an email address for each player attending; for multiple players on the same device, use the device holder’s email for all players.

How does virtual trivia work? 

It’s played solo or on a team through Zoom; you’ll receive the Zoom link 30 minutes before the game starts. Once you’ve entered the meeting, change your display name to reflect your team’s name and your host will sort you with your team. During the game, you will move in and out of private Zoom (breakout) rooms, so there’s ample time for trivia and socialization!

I’m having technical difficulties, can you help? 

For difficulties during game time, your host may be able to help. However, settings vary depending on the device and operating system, which we have no control over.

Are there prizes? 

Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee that players will not cheat during virtual trivia – we do not offer prizes so that we do not incentivize players to cheat.

I have an issue with a question asked in our game. Who do I contact?

Custom Events FAQs

What days/times can I book a special event? 

We can make any day and time work with two weeks’ notice. Rush orders may be available within a two-week time frame, reach out to discuss.

How long do special events last? 

Hours vary depending on the type of event. Email Events@CharmCityEntertainment.com or VirtualEvents@CharmCityEntertainment.com for more information.

My event will be at this venue, will you be able to host there? 

We’ll host your event wherever it is! Check out our list of Locations if you’re looking for recommendations in a certain area.

Can you send a specific host? 

Feel free to ask! Even if that host is unavailable, you are still guaranteed to have a fantastic, seasoned host.

Can I do monthly events? 

Absolutely! We’re happy to set up recurring special events.

I want customized questions, is that possible? 

Yes! We’ll customize questions for your group, including specialty categories.

Can you customize the visuals for my event? 

For visual trivia events, we can add your branding – just send us your logo and any other slides you want included one to two weeks in advance.

How do I pay?

Do I need to provide any supplies or equipment? 

Nope! Our host will bring all the equipment & supplies. The only things you provide are prizes and a few set up requirements.
